03 .26 .02 I hate ketchup packets. They are THE worst invention known to mankind. Not only do they just plain suck outright but the amount of ketchup inside of them is hardly enough to satisfy and does not warrant the amount of effort put into getting it out of the packet. These things should have been re-engineered long ago. They should contain at least two to three times the current amount of ketchup per packet and they should also have a better "spout" system. The only thing I could suggest would be the method used by the savvy folks who packaged the icing for Toaster Streudels. An easily opened channel exiting from an angle at the corner from which the ketchup is squeezed out without messy fingers. Not only that but I think the packets should be made of a clear plastic instead of the foil material they now use. For some reason I like to see what it is inside of these miniature condiment vessels. This has been another installement of "Life According to Ryan." 03 .25. 02
Well, it happenedI finally got to see Donnie Darko last night and I'm pretty sure this DVD is on my "buy" list. I'm still trying to figure this one out but I don't think I ever will since it leaves so much open for interpretation. I'll definitely need to see it again and go through the web site one more time now that I've watched it. It's such a good movie. Weird in just the right way, some really great direction from both the director and the director of photography, and it had excellent performances, in my opinion. There's some pretty twisted stuff going on in this film and it's done so well that it keeps you hooked through the whole thing. Must see movie again. Even though the whole time/space thing messes with my brain too much, there's more to the whole continuum aspect than just those two ideas. Go see this movie if you like a movie that makes you think in abstract ways. 03 .12 .02 It would be nice if I could find the time to update this thing daily. Unfortunately, I can't. Saturday was a good day for it involved two birthday parties. First we went to Luke's surprise party and that was quite fun because there's nothing better than seeing Luke wearing boob muffs and shark goggles. I'm grateful I didn't witness Jordan's bare-chested antics with said boob muffs. That's just too weird. After that we ventured over to Nick's for his party where it would seem it was anything but his very own birthday. The man was cooking since 2pm until well after midnight for all of his guests. It's just too bad that I was full after Luke's party because I missed out on a ton of food. Though, I was able to munch on a slice of pizza (sweet, delicious Greek pizza ) and nibbled on some calamari later. I was surprised at how good the stuff was considering what a strange animal it is. It was The Evil Agents' reunion on Sunday as Ian was able to pop in to jam for a bit before heading off to Charlottetown. That evening, me, Nathan and Charlotte went to see The Time Machine. I thought it was ok but it didn't do anything special for me. I've liked everything I've seen with Guy Pearce so far but, while this was good and had some really interesting parts, it just didn't have a whole lot of punch. 03 .06 .02 Why is it that every CD player I buy never seems to play CDs in a truly random fashion using the Random or Shuffle function? It just seems that it almost has pre-programmed "sets" of CD and track numbers (in the case of my 25 disc changer) so that it appears random but at the same time it's not. It's almost as if it chooses the same track on a particular CD all the time, even though the order of CDs played may vary. "Random" Instance #1: Disc 12, Song 4. Disc 3, Song 11. Disc 9, Song 7. Disc 22, Song 18. Disc 14, Song 19. Disc 1, Song 2. "Random" Instance #2: Disc 14, Song 9. Disc 22, Song 18. Disc 1. Song 2. Etc. Etc. Is it so hard for the manufacturer to program the hardware to pick a random song from the available tracks spread over 25 discs? Or am I just noticing things at random points in time and finding patterns that aren't there? Maybe I should find better things to complain about. 03 .04 .02 So, let's see. On Friday I went with Sharon and Mark to see Nathan play at Baba's but I also went for two other reasons. Those reasons being to buy my Perfect Blue DVD from The Comic Hunter and, more importantly, bring in my DV cam to be serviced at FutureShop.I was all set to bitch and complain because I figured the employees would give me the run-around, and otherwise be a pain in the ass and a headache at the same time. But I was quite surprised that I had absolutely no problems whatsoever in getting the camera sent off to be looked at. Not only that, but it turns out my warranty is good through 2005. Nice. I watched Perfect Blue twice on the weekend and it was much more graphic and violent than I remember it being. It's a pretty messed up movie for sure and even though I paid way too much for it (relatively speaking) I'm glad I got it. I've been meaning to pick up a copy since I went to see it with Darren at City Cinema probably 2 or 3 years ago. It's quite good and it's one of those movies you need to see a few times before you can really appreciate it, or get a better handle on the story (something I still don't fully understand). -->> Will leave you begging for more. |
