I was biking home from work tonight and a guy on the opposite street was zipping down the sidewalk on his spiffy, hi-tech mountain bike that he seemed extra proud of. This guy was probably at least my age and was laying on the "cool" pretty badly. There weren't any cars driving down the street nor were there any people to show off for and as I cross over and am biking half a block behind him, he pops a wheelie and speeds away.
What does that even mean?!

I've had my iPod for about two months now and it's been a wonderful two months. The other day I updated the software and next thing I know the thing won't turn on. So I've got to send the thing in to be repaired. Apparently the turnaround is about a week so that's much better than the 46 weeks I was expecting the tech guy to tell me over the phone.
Knowing my luck, this will probably be my fault somehow and I'll have to pay to have it repaired and shipped back to me. But until then I'm without my tunes at work for probably a couple of weeks.
How many babies did I murder in a past life anyway?

Trailer Park Boys is probably the funniest show on television right now. I paid a pretty penny for the DVD boxed set but it was well worth it. So, of course, I'm obsessed with the show as are many of my friends. One of which is Nathan, who played a show with Sam Roberts last week in New Glascow and it turns out Mike Smith was there. Not just that but he was backstage as Bubbles and Nathan got me his autograph. Sweetness. Needless to say, it's one of the coolest things I've got. He did a whole bunch of the Trailer Park Boys material and was doing the classic scenes. I would have freaked out had I been there.

Not a bad weekend. Got to hang out with Giselle tonight for a while and have a BBQ/pool-side get-together at Luke's. Went to see Pirates of the Carribean on Saturday night in Ch'town because our stupid theatre doesn't like to get good movies. It was pretty fun to watch and had an interesting plot but there was just too much Disney in itespecially the horrid ending. Pukish. But Johnny Depp was awesome and basing his character on Keith Richards was genius. Savvy? I wasn't overly impressed with the skeletons and stuff but there were a few good parts where they were actually slightly creepy or cool looking.
What that movie needed was to be directed by someone who didn't have their balls in a Mickey Mouse vice. The movie was about pirates and they should have been cursing like pirates and being a whole lot more pirate-like than they were. But the look of the film was great and it was really fun to watch but Disney owes a lot fo Mr. Depp and Geoffrey Rush for making that film enjoyable.

Ah, there's nothing like being sick as a dog for an entire week. One of the best weeks we've had so far this summer too. Go to work feeling like shit, come home and feel even worse and lay on the damn couch all week. There's nothing worse than being sick in the summer. What a waste of a week.
For some reason, though, I've managed to see about 4 films in the past 2 weeks. The only good one was 28 Days Later but the others (Hulk, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Terminator 3) were just those fun ones to see. They weren't really all that bad, they were just your typical Hollywood summer flick fare. Just a bunch of special effects and whatnot. Though, I was surprised by the Hulk as it was much better than I was expecting. But the editing was horrible. Terrible, in fact. They were trying to give it this comic book look or something but it just didn't work at all. Way too much happening at one time on the screen. That sort of shit works fine in a movie intro but not consistently throughout the entire film.

For my birthday I got some money from my grandparents and I thought to myself, "What should I buy with this?" Well, I wasn't long in making my decision. I've wanted one of these Late Show with David Letterman mugs for years but could never justify spending almost $20 on one mug. But if it's not my money then what's stopping me? Now technically, the money is mine but it would normally would have been used to buy a gift so really it's just free money to put towards something that I would want.
Wow, that was pointless rambling.
I went to visit my friends Lee and Mandy and their new baby tonight. They're home from Taiwan again and it's hard to believe they just celebrated their 3-year anniversary the other day. Their baby, Colin, is pretty funny and cute. Oh, and don't forget fat. But all babies are better fat because who wants to see a skinny baby? Not me. Babies should be fat. Small, fat humanoids are funny. It was fun to see them again and catch up. It's just too bad they have to head back on Friday. We didn't even get a chance to play one game of Mah Jong. Oh, well. There's always 2005.

Ah, Canada Day. How I enjoy thee and the time off you bring. We went down to Spinnakers' to see Nathan play in the afternoon and then caught the fireworks. I was actually surprised by them this year. Usually they last less than 10 minutes and are the same fireworks every year but just lit in a different order. This year they went almost 20 minutes (give or take a few minutes for the sporadic gaps and false endings) and they actually had some new fireworks that made shapes and stuff. I applaud their efforts and was entertained. Bravo! Bravo!
Sunday I piled into a van with Nathan, Dale, and Mike to headed over to Moncton to see 28 Days Later because it's not playing anywhere on PEI (no surprise there). Worrying the whole time that we were actually going to show up 30 minutes late, we actually arrived right on time and didn't miss a second of the movie.
I was bawling. I'm normally not very scared during movies as I tend to find the horror, suspense, etc. to be very enjoyable in a funny manner for some reason. Odd considering I would get scared by pretty much any movie when I was a kid (uh, Airplane? Why?). But there was just something very disturbing, creepy, and outright scary about the zombies in this flick. They were approached so well and the movie through-and-through was amazing. Everything from the look of the DV to the soundtrack to the acting to the plot. Everything. There was not one part I disliked and it just had me tense through the whole thing. Danny Boyle is awesome. Such a cool take on the zombie film.
