The 28th
I hate waiting for the last few seconds on the microwave's timer to elapse. Isn't it just terrible? 35 seconds seems much longer than it truly is when the count is 3…2…1. But I never let it get that far. No beeps for me. I try to stop it before then because I hate waiting. It's just a horrible thing to endure.

Of all the stupid ideas I get into my head in the run of a day, this is one of them. "How much I don't like waiting for my microwave to finish microwaving." If that's how little it takes to minorly annoy me then I sure as hell wouldn't last very long if I had to build a fire to cook my food, maybe even food that I would have to grow myself. And if I couldn't grow my own food then I would starve.

Imagine how pissed off I would be then. I wouldn't even have wait for my food to get hot because I'd be so annoyed that I couldn't be self-sufficient. And if I had someone else to support like half a dozen starving, sick children then I would most certainly be a little more moody.

Geez, that microwave thing sure gets under my skin. Next thing you know I'm going to get all upset if my power goes out for 10 minutes, or my iPod runs out of juice, or my 2 computer screens get smudged, or I run out of milk and have to walk a whole block to buy more so I can watch it go bad before I get a chance to drink it all, or can't find the socks I like in a store even though there's millions of other socks to choose from, or I get less than 70k/sec. downloads, or etc., etc.

The 24th
A pretty good weekend even though the nice weather seems to be gone for the summer. Went to one of Kira's get-togethers on Friday night and a party at Luke's place last night. I even went to the beach yesterday during the day even though I hate sitting in the sun. But I figured a little sun for an afternoon is worlds better than dealing with my fucking landlords. What a pain. A fucking pain.

But tonight would probably have been better spent at home. I went to Charlottetown with Sharon, Kira, Charlotte, and Shawn to go see some movies. Me and Shawn went to
Freddy vs. Jason and, while it was terribly cheesy and bad, it was still pretty entertaining. But going to Mike's Restaurant was the worst idea of all. I ordered the Brownie Explosion which is an ungodly huge brownie sundae that I was determined to finish completely but it proved a little too much for me.

I'm thinking if I had only gotten that instead of an appetizer as well that I might have finished the whole thing. But that's just excuses excuses. I really shouldn't have tried. Being sick from eating is never fun and now I probably have sugar diabetes, if not full-blown diabetes.

No more sweets this week. Especially since that was on top of 3 desserts I had at breakfast.

The 13th
Tonight I started to see a few flashes of lightning but there wasn't any rain so I decided to bike over to my parents' really quickly to pick up my mail. On the way there the rain had started but it wasn't anything serious. But by the time I got in and out of the house with my mail it was pouring the huge heavy drops of rain and the sky was flashing like crazy everywhere.

Biking home and barely being able to see what's in front of me because of the rain pounding into my eyes is normally not something I enjoy but the sky was so chaotic with lightning flashes that it was actually a very surreal experience.

I've lived here 25 years and I don't think I've ever seen lightning like that. So when I got home I sat out on the porch with my thumb piano and took a nice, relaxing break from whatever it was I was doing to enjoy the weather. Some of what was going on in the sky was jaw-dropping. It looked like something they would hire a visual effects artist to do for some weird inter-dimensional movie plot or the precursory skyward cataclysm signalling the imminent battle of God and Satan.

Ok, that's a little much but it was pretty damn amazing.

The 10th
I spent the weekend at my grandparents' place and got in some nice relaxing time. Sleeping, eating, watching TV, playing cards, more eating, napping, reading, and eating some more. I didn't have to listen to the phone ringing, check my email, answer the door, or even clean up after myself. Well, I did help with the dishes but other than that it was couch laziness.

And then today I went to the Grant family reunion and it was held in a church basement unfortunately because the weather was so shitty. Again, I continued with the eating trend and now I'm regretting it. So many types of pasta salad. I don't think they all mix together so well i one's gut.

Though, after all of that laying down I should really still be out on my bike. The nights are too nice to be in here typing this stupid thing. Then again, it's almost 1am but that's never stopped me from going before. But then again, I just got back a little while ago and I don't feel like getting sweaty again peddling against the annoying wind.

Fuck, what a pointless ramble.

Homestar Runner Figurines
They've arrived! My Homestar Runner figurines showed up at the office today and they're even cooler than I expected. Plus I got a nifty Homestar keychain and a signed thank you note from Mike and Matt. Now I'm just waiting for my new wall cabinet with sliding glass doors to show up from Ikea so I can put my DVDs in it and devote one shelf to my new figurines.

Ironically enough, I watched
Fight Club again last night and you'd think that afterwards I'd be inclined to dislike the fact that I have so much stuff—that the stuff is my entire life—but instead I came home today and ordered from Ikea with a smile on my face and credit card in hand.

Once a consumer, pretty much always a consumer.

The 4th
I finally had one of those weekends where stuff actually happened beyond just eating and movies. Ian and Holly got married on Friday so myself and Sharon went to their reception for a bit. Got to hang out with people in their new apartment, eat cookies, play with kitties—all the good stuff.

Saturday night we hung out with Sharon, ventured out to the Frosty Treat for the best ice cream in the world then I met up with Tyler and Melissa down at Tim's with Kira. They were home for the weekend and we managed to chit chat for an hour or two which was fun. Hopefully I'll be able to go visit them this fall sometime for a long weekend.

On Sunday, Nathan, Sharon, and moi piled into the car and took a trip to Cavendish for the first time this summer. The ritual Beaver Tail was had, got to see lots of good-looking girls that were definitely not from around here and hit some tourist trap for a bit. It was the Wax Museum this time and it was the first time I'd been there in probably 15–20 years. It was pretty neat to see everything in there but the Chamber of Horrors was the best. I can see now why I freaked out when I was a child and ran out of there freaking to everyone's dismay.

Then to finish the mini-road trip off we went to the Old Glascow Mill Restaurant and had some pretty fine food. Ate myself sick, wished I owned the building and unintentionally tipped the waiter more than I had intended. Oh well, he did a good job I guess.

And for a grand finally, Ryan, Kira and myself pretended we were pirates down at Spinnakers' Landing on the kids ship/playground thing. Well, we didn't act so much like pirates as much as we mostly climbed on stuff and now I'm sore from too much physical activity.

And now tonight I was bored and sat on the front deck with my thumb piano and yogurt-covered raisins. Kind of a let down after the weekend. Mondays usually are like that though.
