The 27th
I was listening to CBC in the shower the other day and it was "teenager" week or something. I don't know what the deal was but it had something to do with focusing on teens and teen culture I guess. In any case, to introduce a segment for teen-something-or-other they went ahead and did the typical, lame thing everyone comes to expect of people out of touch with teens. The segment started with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as if this was still the tune associated with the teens of today. Nirvana was big when I was a teenager and that was over 10 years ago. Kobain has been dead for years and the band is a thing of the 90s now. I just don't get why people still think that's an appropriate tune for kids that were playing on the monkeybars when Nevermind was released.
Speaking of inappropriate music, I was just checking out the TV listings and there was an ad for The Geneva Villa which is some kind of retirement home. The voiceover was talking about things like quiet accommodations, day visits and the like. But the music playing in the background was this cheesy dance music that sounded like it should be on one of those late night chat commercials with the plastic, busty blondes playing volleyball in a pool. I don't get it. Who the hell approved that music? They must have some more selections to choose from other than that garbage.
Anyway, Easter was just another Sunday but I did get invited over to Tyler's parents for dinner. Turkey with all the fixin's and it was damn good. I didn't get any chocolate today but I think Charlotte and Sarah were the ones who left some out on my step last night. Pre-frozen when I brought it in.

I've been channel surfing tonight and it seems like every second channel has some Jesus movie on for their Easter programming. Actually, it seems like it's just all of the French channels and Jesus Christ Superstar in French is just plain lame. There is one channel though playing the CBS Jesus movie from last year and the part I came across had Jesus meeting with the devil in the garden or something. But the devil was wearing a suit...a mafia business man type suit. What the fuck is Satan doing wearing an Armani with no tie in ancient Jerusalem?!?
So right away I'm thinking that this sort of thing is immediately going to to take anyone watching right out of the movie if they have the least bit of sense. I mean, why would a period movie like this have a guy with slicked back hair and a black on black suit talking to Jesus in his robes and sandals and stuff? Well, apparently Satan is going to take Jesus on a little time travel journey to medieval times to watch Joan of Arc burn at the stake and then off to the trenches and No Man's Land of WWII or something. Suddenly it's like Jesus is Scrooge having an extremely heavy, depressing, morbid visit with the Ghost of Xmas Future. I'm sorry but seeing Jesus crying on the front lines as soldiers die around him standing alongside this Beelzebub type in smart business attire and looking like the type to reek of cologne and cigars just doesn't seem like it's the Jesus movie for me.
I don't even want to talk about the pretty boy they got to play Jesus and his really bad beard.

I went to see The Ring Two tonight with Tyler, Melissa and Ryan. Sequels rarely live up to the original and this one was pretty pale in comparison. There were some good scares and some bizarre elements but there were also a lot of things that just seemed thrown together or out of place. And there was some really bad CGI stuff happening too which was kind of disappointing. The story was weak and just didn't have the same grip as the first one. Plus the dialogue was pretty bad in spots too with a few terribly cheesy lines.
I don't know. I guess it's worth seeing if you saw the first one and there are some good creepy and weird parts but it was just a let down because I thought the original was so good.

I don't think I can properly describe my frustration right now. I compressed some video clips a few months ago and they were at a certain file size. Tonight I compressed the exact same clips using the exact same settings and they're triple the file size. I just don't understand how that's possible. It makes no sense and I want to put my fist through my monitor but that would end in a bloody mess and even more frustration.

Hobbes is a shithead. The other day I came home to find that he had ripped into a sack of flour and left a huge pile of it sitting on the kitchen floor. Across the floor there were tiny, floury paw prints leading away from the scene.
Tonight I came home to find a path of rice leading from the front door all the way back into the kitchen. The little bastard had climbed up onto the counter, opened the cupboard door, and picked out a couple of bags of rice from the shelf. He then proceeded to rip the bags to shreds and drag them all over the house. So after some vacuuming and having rice annoyingly scatter everywhere as I did it, I managed to get it all cleaned up while the cat remains locked in the bathroom for the rest of the night.
As much as it pissed me off, I would have liked to see him freak out with the bags of rice. I bet it would have looked pretty funny.

I guess today was the first day of spring and it was a nice day so that helped make it seem like winter really is on its way out. I'll just be so glad when it's all done and over with for another year.
There was a gathering out at Dave and Liz's today for a combined birthday party for Dave and anyone else who was there with a birthday in March. Everyone just hung out and chatted before we ate dinner. We went out and played an extremely short round of frisbee golf too. But then I ate to the point of busting but don't regret it. We had stuffed shells, and two kinds of quiche before dessert which was this really good poundcake. I guess eating all of that is ok though since I've mostly been eating cereal and bagels lately.

I hate getting a cold. I feel like crap. I've been dealing with a head cold and lack of sleep this week which probably doesn't help in getting rid of the cold. I swear I'm on the verge of sneezing up my lungs.
But I started my first day at the Fresh Media office on Tuesday so that's a good thing. I went in again today for a few hours and have been non-stop busy. That's nice for a change. It's a great place to work and a really nice, quiet and comfortable space. I'm not looking forward to the travelling, buying a car and junk like that but it will be good to be working again.

I hate winter. I hate the cold. I hate the boredom. I hate having no energy. I hate not being able to be positive.
Speaking of disliking things, I can't stand the show Smallville. I like the idea of a show about Superman's early life as he's discovering his powers but the show has such a trendy, teen appeal that it's pretty gross. It's just a superhero soap opera with bad special effects, weak plots and corny dialogue dripping with sap.
