People will stumble across my site using the weirdest search terms such as "intense actor gary oldman" and "pretty corpse". Wherever the hell those last two words came together somewhere on my site I'll never know.
Today was another beautiful day but I need a hat because the sun burns my head way too easily. I'm going to be red and peeling at some point this summer for sure. But it was good to be out anyway. I walked around with Charlotte for a little while and had coffee while she was in town. She's off for Niagara in a few weeks to be chef extraordinaire.

Today officially marked my first day of shorts wearing for 2005. You can send cards of congratulations and well wishes to my home address. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Melissa invited me over to have dinner with her and Tyler and, of course, I ate way too much. She made this awesome casserole that had biscuit dough on top of it and then cheesecake for dessert. We basically sat around being lazy and full before I had to go home for what was dubbed "guys night out".
Basically, Nathan, Shawn and myself went down to The Heritage with Mark to hang out before he headed back to Fredericton. I could barely hear a thing and the band just played AC/DC all night. This guy named Justin that I used to play hockey with years ago recognized me and sat down to talk for a bit. It was weird because I figured he'd not want to talk but after doing so I discovered he had heard a funny rumour about me years ago. He was told I was really sick and had died. So for like the last 10 years or so he figured I was dead.

I went over to Mark's place tonight and had some gumbo he made for supper. Spicy, vegetable goodness. Then we decided we should get some chocolate before we watched Napoleon Dynamite so we made a run up to Shoppers. Mark said I should try this Ritter Sport chocolate bar and, oh man, they're awesome. There's one called butter biscuit and it's an amazing chocolate bar. I've got a marzipan one in the fridge for tomorrow.

Nathan and I went to trivia tonight and this guy named John asked to join our team. It was a good thing he did because otherwise we wouldn't have come in 1st place. It feels good to blow people out of the water sometimes with our amazing trivia powers. Well, maybe some lucky guess work too. $40 ain't too shabby though.
I'm not looking forward to doing my taxes. I still haven't even filed my GST return and I hope I don't get nailed with interest or anything. It's not like I do my taxes myself or anything but I just know I'm going to get dinged this year and I don't want it to hurt.

Well, it appears Old Man Winter has managed to sneak back into our lives and bitch slap us with that icy hand of his. Just when it appeared that spring was here with its warm weather, BBQ smells, robins, and Frosty Treat visits, along comes a heavy snowfall warning and a bunch of misrable weather. It certainly puts my plans of going for a bike ride tomorrow on the back burner. I'm so sick of the snow and cold.

I went to Tyler and Melissa's tonight for dinner and it was good. We had a Swiss roast and then a chocolate pie I made for dessert with some caramalized fruit and ice cream Melissa whipped up. Sooo good. Then we watched Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. I hadn't seen it in years. It's a good movie but it doesn't come close to being as funny as The Holy Grail.

Driving a standard wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Dave took me out for some driving lessons at Slemon Park today and I did better than I thought I would. A few more lessons and I should be much more comfortable driving a car—standard or automatic.
After that I went for a drive out to Chelton Beach with Tammy to take some photos of all the ice and stuff. It was really nice down on the beach and it was fun climbing all over the huge chunks of ice. I sort of wish I had gone in the middle of the winter though to get some shots of the massive amounts of snow and ice and desolation. Then we got some Chinese food and watched some SpongeBob. That's one of the best cartoons ever.

Years ago I saw part of Bladerunner on TV and never rented it to finish watching the whole movie. Well, I finally rented it a few days ago and watched it tonight to be completely let down. I guess I had some other impression of what the movie would be like, higher expectations. It was just a long, slow movie that didn't really go anywhere, had no plot twists or even a major climax. A lot of it didn't really make much sense and the score by Vangelis didn't help. Someone should redo the score because Vangelis blows a whole bunch.

Today was a beautiful, sunny day and also the first day I took out my bike. Then on my way back home I smelled the first smell of barbeque lingering in the neighbourhood. This can only herald a new, non-wintery, non-depressing season.

Tammy and I rented some movies last night because I hadn't yet seen Ghost World but have wanted to for some time. As I expected, I really liked the movie a lot. I should really read the comic sometime but me and reading is like priests and wives—it doesn't really happen.
Thora Birch honestly should be in every movie but since she was just graduating from high school in the movie I'm getting into creepy territory asking for something like that. But she really shouldn't be in every movie because then there would be too much of her and it would spoil the Thora viewing experience. Sacrilege to some, I know. Anyway…the characters and the humour were just the way I like them, weird and quirky. I'm obviously going to grow up to be Seymour except you can be damn sure there won't be a "Thora" in my apartment in the middle of the night drinking a bottle of champagne.
Tonight we watched Willow and, boy, that movie is classic. I had no idea George Lucas and Ron Howard worked on that film but it's got Lucas all over it. The sorceress looks like Joel Goddard from Late Night and Warwick Davis has gigantic hands. Between Star Wars and Willow, Lucas sure knows how to keep little people employed.

I've been meaning to try making quiche for a while now so I bought the stuff this week and tonight I made some at Tyler and Melissa's place. Surprisingly, it turned out and was actually good. So seeing as it's fairly easy to make I believe that quiche will be on the menu more often.
Homemade, experimental quiche along with apple pie, coffee and Twin Peaks made for a pretty good evening, I must say.

Who knew I could actually be entertained at the Miscouche Legion? As bored as we were, Melissa and I—for some reason—went there tonight for something to do. We played darts and I actually won and did fairly well considering I've never played darts in a real game before. Pool was free too and we got to listen to some people sing some horrible karaoke. We also got to watch a really drunk guy do some pretty fantastic fancy walking, fancy leaning on the bar, fancy sleeping at a table, and then some fancy being-asked-to-leave followed by fancy coming-back-in-to-get-his-jacket.
After the novelty wore off we went to Andy's and hung out there for a while. His cat actually let me spin him in an office chair for quite some time.

Sin City was amazing. I went to see it with Melissa, Jill and Andy and I'm pretty sure we were all blown away by it. It was basically the graphic novel turned into film. Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez did an amazing job. I had only flipped through maybe one Sin City issue in the comic store but there were scenes that definitely matched panels from the pages. The dialogue, the style, the look—everything was awesome, dark, filthy and crude. I really have to go out and buy some Sin City because the characters are so twisted and weird. And violent, goodness. Horribly brutal violence committed with style. I have to go again (not that I condone violence...no, no, no).
