Luke, Shawn and I rented "Return to the Batcave" tonight and it was funny as hell. It was cheesy and campy but that's what we wanted. I think that was the first time I had seen Burt Ward since he played Robin back in the 60s series. It was strange considering he sounds pretty much exactly the same.
The story was really lame and the acting pretty bad for the most part but the gags were perfect and Adam West delivered his lines as only Adam West can. He really needs his own show. His Family Guy scenes are always good but we need more West.

Say it with me now...HUMIDITY! I love summer but I do not like days like this. Today was the first truly hot, humid, disgusting day of summer. It was 33 degrees or something, probably a lot higher because of the humidity. I just can't do anything or think properly when it's like this. There's probably many more days like this still ahead this too. Maybe I'll be more used to it by then, you know, just in time to start worrying about the forthcoming snow and ice and depression.

This will be the second time this month I've mentioned The Windjammer in Vancouver. I went there with Charles the first time I vacationed in BC a few years back to try their fish and chips—which were damn good, best ever. Gigantic portions abound at The Windjammer and I was full almost to the point of pain. Then Charles felt the need to point out they had deep fried Mars bars. I'd never heard of such a thing and since the odds of me ever getting back there to try one were pretty slim, I decided to try it despite my full belly. Then I was in pain.
Well, it was sinfully delicious and I had the opportunity to have another one here but this time at the best ice cream bar in the world, the Frosty Treat. I noticed they had them on their new menus last time I was there but only bought one today and holy fuck it was good. It's not the sort of thing I plan on eating very often but it's nice to know I don't have to fly to the other side of the country to have one.
If there's a heaven then it's going to have a Frosty Treat up there.

Two of my favourite bands both happen to be Canadian surf/instrumental bands, namely Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and Huevos Rancheros. Sadly, neither band exists anymore so I figured the sounds of those bands would no longer continue past their last albums. Thankfully, there's a remedy to this situation.
I recently found out that Brian Connelly, guitarist from SMOASP, has started a new band called Atomic 7 which pretty much sounds like SMOASP except with some more country-like twang to it. They're on Mint Records, the label to which Huevos Rancheros were signed to and from the website I discovered that their guitarist Brent "Coop" Cooper has started a new band as well called The Ramblin' Amabassadors which also has that same great Heuvos-y sound. And from what I've heard online, it's all good so I've got two more bands to buy CDs from.
I got Atomic 7's "en Hillbilly Caliente" today and it's great. Now I've got "Gowns by Edith Head" on the way too and The Ramblin' Ambassadors "Avanti". If anyone reading this likes either of those now-defunct bands and wants to keep the twang alive, check out these new bands. Oh, and Phono-comb had some awesome stuff too. That had SMOASP's Don Pyle and Reid Diamond (R.I.P.).
This has been a public surf announcement.

I seriously have to stop eating gigantic meals. A bunch of us went to the Starlite Diner for supper tonight. I got the fish and chips because I heard they were the best in town. I'm pretty sure they were the best I've had on PEI. The best ever though was at The Windjammer in Vancouver.
For dessert I ordered a slice of mud pie which is really ice cream cake rather than pie but no matter what it is the stuff is damn fucking good. I think my mom makes them when she's working but whoever did make it made it well. Coffee ice cream with Oreo cookie crumbs and a layer of thick chocolate fudge. I was in quite a bit of pain afterwards but it was worth it.

I went to see Batman Begins tonight and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Christian Bale played an awesome Batman and pretty much all of the casting was perfect. The origin was really well done and though there were some over-the-top parts I disliked nothing about the movie.
The Scarecrow's character was perfect in my mind. Not a major villain it turns out but it made for a really interesting portion of the movie. The effects and art direction for the fear sequences was extremely messed up.
I have to go see this movie at least one more time to pick up on things I missed and to basically see Batman do all of his cool Batman stuff. I'm pretty sure this is my top superhero movie of all the new ones that have come out over the past few years.

Al and Catherine were married today in Charlottetown. It was a great day for it. I went with Mike, Tammy and Rhonda and we almost didn't make it on time. I'm sure glad Mike didn't have to speed a whole bunch to get there......
It was a good time. They had the reception at The Haviland Club which was a pretty nice place, and there was a ton of food and desserts. As always, I ate way too much and regretted it (sort of) but how often do I go to a wedding?
The bride and groom both got up and played, along with several other people throughout the night. It was a fairly informal affair and wasn't like any traditional reception I had been to which was nice since I usually can't stand going to such things.

I was working in Charlottetown today and decided to walk to The Monsoon to get some sushi for lunch. On the way there I had to pass by a group of "characters" which were comprised of a bunch of rough looking guys with tattoos and a rottweiler and a couple of girls with tattoos. One had a baby in a stroller while the other must have been about ready-to-pop pregnant. The pregnant one was also smoking away like it's something acceptable that people normally do when they have an unborn child growing inside of them. What the fuck is wrong with women who decide to keep smoking while they're pregnant?! Honestly, they should be arrested or forced to ride on a short bus because they're fucking irresponsibly retarded.

I think I've become addicted to Mini-Wheats because I've been averaging about a bowl a day over the past week or so. I've got 3 different boxes on the go and have found the new maple frosting to be the best. I have to get a box of the regular frosting Mini-Wheats though after I finish the maple and the brown sugar. I don't know what it is about them that's so good. The bite-size attraction. The heartiness. The frosting goes without saying. They just go really well with milk and I'm not getting tired of them yet which is a good sign. I wonder if too many Mini-Wheats is a bad thing.
