I went to the petting farm with Ian, Holly, Nathan, and Kira today. I really wish there had been some more puppies and some kitties running around but it was still a pretty good excursion. I just wish I had brought my video camera with me to tape the friendly goat and the sleeping kitties.

I do not like the beach during the daytime nearly as much as I like it at night. Too hot and no beach fire is not all that fun. I went to Thunder Cove with Melissa, Nathan, Shawn and Luke and I don't think I need to go again in the daylight this year. It was a good day for it I suppose but sitting in the shade watching seagulls fly by loses its appeal after 20 mins or so.

I have to lay off the deep-fried food I think. I just can't eat it as much of it as I used to. I went to Cavendish Boardwalk with Melissa, Nathan and Luke today, and ate at Captain Scott's Fish & Chips. It was good but there was just wayyyy too much deep-friedness happening on my plate. I didn't think having a deep-fried Beaver Tail for dessert would have been a very good idea so I skipped that.
We played mini-golf after that at King Tut's Tomb. It's a pretty good course except for all of the damn mosquitoes. They have a black-lit course as well inside the castle that looks pretty neat but doesn't seem to have a lot to it. Plus people tend to look creepy in there.

We're getting close to having The Neil Forbes album done. I've been drumming for Shawn and Neil so that we can record a little album before they go back to school. The songs seem to be coming along pretty well but we still need to record some extra parts. Who knew post-rock could be so fun?

My prediction was correct: I will end up failing my driver's test and scramble to take it again before my beginner's expires. Thankfully, I was able to schedule another test before August 12th. Otherwise I'd be screwed for another 6 months to rely on other ways to get to work.
I did pretty terrible on my test too. It was a just a big sheet of Xs at the end to review and practice those areas before next time. I'm surprised he didn't just tell me to get out of the car and walk after 5 minutes. Hopefully my next test will go better.

A bunch of us went to see Dark Water tonight and I wish now I had waited for the DVD release instead of spending my cash on a relatively lame movie. The guy who did The Ring really needs to get a new theme for his movies. The dead little girl thing is getting pretty old. I don't need to see any more long dark hair, bathtub scenes, mysterious gushing/dripping/pooling water, or maternal figures that attract ghosts of drowned children.
There were so many similar elements between this movie and his other movies (The Ring, The Ring 2—which sucked—and The Grudge). It's like he just took a bunch of ideas from each and threw them all together to make this movie. There weren't even that many good scares in this film.
It had a good look and feel, and I liked the acting, especially John C. Reilly's character. The movie has just been done already too many times so it was a let down to see the lack of originality in it.

The breakfast at The Heritage ain't so good. I got the Eggs Benedict and wished I had just stuck with coffee. First off, at least serve the stuff on an English muffin instead of toast—especially since it even came with a side order of toast that we completely drenched with butter. The ham was this thick slab of saltiness that I couldn't really eat and the home fries were these lame, deep-fried things. We live on PEI…make with the homemade home fries. Basically, everything just seemed to be full of salt overall. At least there was air hockey afterwards.
Me, Nathan and Melissa then decided to go abandoned house hunting but ended up in Victoria instead. Which was more than fine considering there's a chocolate factory there. Their chocolate is so good and someone told me to try their Factory coffee which is coffee in a chocolate-lined cup with whipped cream and a chocolate on top. Dang it was good. But I should have had that after for dessert because we ended up eating at the Sandfire Grill and I stupidly bought chocolate cheesecake when I didn't need it at all. It was good though so I don't care.
When we got back in town we rented John Waters' A Dirty Shame and that movie is shockingly hilarious. It's so strange and over-the-top and filthy that it has to be funny. Johnny Knoxville as a sexual healer: genius. I think the only other film I've seen of his was Pecker. I should probably rent some more but I don't think I need to see Pink Flamingos...well, one part of that film anyway.

Tonight was the first night of the summer I've gone to the beach to have a fire. It was a good night for it even though it was a little cool and the wood we had wasn't very dry. I went with Nathan and Melissa, and we tried to avoid the other people on the beach but apparently being left alone at our fire is something people can't let us do.
I understand someone walking by saying hello or something but what is with people leaving their fire to come over to ours and chat with complete strangers? I didn't come to the beach to mingle or associate with the general public. I came to the damn beach to get away from town and hang out with my friends by the fire. The fact that the people buzzing over to our fire like moths to a lightbulb are usually drunken, loud, obnoxious teenagers doesn't help. I just don't get it. I never feel the need to go say hi to other people on the beach. I don't think any of my friends do either.
Maybe I need to do something fucked up to keep them away. Like making everyone at the fire wear ball caps with dildos attached to them with the words "Die! Die!" written on them. Or buy a new gas can, fill it with water and just keep drinking from it when they walk over and start talking to us. Or quite simply tell them to fuck off or I'll shove a coat hanger up their hole and perform a misguided anal abortion and try to hook their guts and just pullllllllll.

Kira is back from Greece so she joined us for trivia tonight on our mammoth team. We came in third and, between the eight of us, each won $1.25. At least I finally got an anagram tonight and got to play some air hockey.
The 3rd
I went to see War of the Worlds tonight and got what I expected. Visually amazing but kind of lame in the plot department with too much Spielbergishness and God Bless America. The story, as far as I know, is pretty much the same but little things that were added to make it more Hollywood just seemed to be a bit too much. The mayhem, death and destruction was fun to watch though. It had it's share of grim scenes too. Go see it if you want to watch shit get blown up by aliens.

Well Canada Day was a let down. Nothing much really happened at all. I went to The Deckhouse for lunch with Melissa and got a mild sunburn on my head. Then I went to eat at O'Ryan's with her and Nathan before the fireworks, and I only got to watch them from the distance between two houses because we ended up leaving too late to get to the waterfront. Even the fireworks were lame. Then some idiot yelled some inappropriate stuff at me and Melissa when we decided to go out for a walk. Woo-fucking-hoo Canada Day.
